No one wants to end up carrying large and heavy luggage all over the city – from home to the airport, and then once you arrive there's public transportation and maybe a walk to your apartment of choice, it's an unnecessary inconvenience right? And what if there is no elevator? Good news is, you don't have to go through any of this, we're here to help you be as efficient as possible when you pack. 

Choose the proper luggage

First comes something that might seem obvious - It is really important to invest in a right piece of luggage. To pack light for a trip it's best to get a multi-pocket, lightweight bag with wheels. These will fit easily into the overhead bin, they are easy to handle and have a lot of interior space. You can take everything you need and pack it in one bag, from clothes, cosmetics to tech gadgets. And it’s way easier to keep track of one compact bag than two or more.

It doesn’t matter if you are traveling by plane, bus or a ship, every big airport, dock or station is usually crowded and enormous and heavy baggage can make moving maneuvering a real pain. With a lightweight bag you will be able to go through the terminal and get to your destination like it's no bother at all.

Be careful with your shoes

Footwear takes up a lot of space. People sometimes pack 5 or 6 pairs of footwear only to realize they've only used 2 pairs for the entirety of their trip. Be smart about this and think about where you're going and what you'll be doing and pack only those that you are going to wear and need. If you're visiting Belgrade in December it's highly unlikely that you'll get a change to wear those nice sandals you just bought. 

Pack heavier things first

Usually the heaviest things you are going to pack for a trip will be toiletries and tech gear. A great tip for toiletries is to buy shampoo and other similar things in travel sizes. If you are planning to work during your trip bringing your computer is probably a must, but if you are traveling for fun, and are planning to use your computer to look up sightseeing spots or make reservations your phone will do you just fine. There's no need to make your luggage any heavier than absolutely necessary. 

Be smart about clothes

Pack items that you can wear a few times and are easy to mix, match and even wash. Clothing items like neutral tanks, tees, shirts and one or two pairs of jeans are always a great choice for a vacation. Same as with shoes, know why you're traveling, if you aren't attending business meetings, that classy tailored suit isn't going to be necessary. We've all been in a situation where we packed our whole wardrobe only to wear three shirts and two pairs of jeans and leave everything else in the suitcase. 

Another awesome tip is to roll-up your clothes instead of folding them, it may not sound like it but it really makes for an efficient use of space.
