Belgrade , Obilićev venac 29 |
Belgrade Attractions - The list of the most beautiful sights in Belgrade is a building that housed a restaurant and restaurant "Russian Tsar" decades ago. It is located at the intersection of Knez Mihailova Street and Obilicev venac. Great location makes it almost impossible to walk past the building without pausing and admiring its beauty for a short while. The building was built in the period 1922-1926. year, and to this day it has not changed its purpose. The ground floor of the building is a space for rent, the second floor is reserved for business offices, while the floor is intended exclusively for housing.
The conceptual creator of the construction was architect Petar Popovic, who in an incredible way embraced the elements of academic mannerism, neo-baroque and elements of secession. The unusual name of the tavern is related to the object of the same name, which existed there until the new one was built. The name is also believed to have originated in 1900, when the Russian Tsar was supposed to become cool to Alexander I Obrenovic, and this particular cafe was the place where the intellectual stratum of society and the abducted world gathered. In the mid-20th century, the building opened the first co-service restaurant "Zagreb", when a significant part of the original interior was changed. Years ago, the lease of premises changed and the Russian Tsar became a part of a large international chain of restaurants, to return to its beginnings today and become an exclusive place in Belgrade.
