Belgrade Attractions - The building of the Officers union is is located on the corner of Masarikova and Resavska street, built in 1908, and the main architect of this project was Svetozar Jovanovic, who at the time had only 26 years. His companions were Danilo Vladislavljević and Vladimir Popovic. The building of the Officers union is an important link in the chain of development of architecture of Serbia and Belgrade.
At the time when it was created it represented a modern department store, it consists of a ground floor, two floors and was built in the style characteristics of secession. The architecture of the interior is cleverly solved utilizing the structural system. When composing the space the use of spatial separation of work functions was made where the workplaces are on the side ends of the building, and the middle section is intended for public communications. That layout and interior solution influenced the look and design of the facade, whose larger area is occupied by the glass surface designed for showrooms. The facades of the side wings have small windows, while the main surface of the facade is modern, with windows through multiple floors. Office space is at the ends of the building, which hold the balance weight of the whole facility and are built out of solid wall paintings.
The main motive of the façade is a rounded corner part with the entrance on the ground floor and a dome of an unusual shape, with a lot of decorative elements and consoles. On the remaining facade the verticality of the facade is accentuated with decorative elements in the height of the roof.
