Belgrade Attractions - Gardos tower or Sibinjanin Janko’s Tower from the list Belgrade Attractions is one of four Millennium towers that were built on the occasion of the one thousand years of immigration of Hungarians to Pannonia, that the Hungarian authorities built on the four corners of the world, on the edge of their empire.
Gardos tower is located on the southernmost tip of the Hungarian Empire, in 1986 on the Gardoš hill, on the foundations of an ancient tower Taurunum. It is located in Zemun, 36 meters high and rises above the right bank of the Danube.
In addition to the millennium tower in Hungary, Gardos tower is the only such building and monument of the Hungarian Empire.
As a cultural and historical monument of great importance, especially after the restoration and renovation, Gardos tower has become one of the favorite tourist locations.
Today Gardos tower is a home to an artist's studio and gallery, Čubrilo, with a permanent exhibition dedicated to the life and work of Milutin Milankovic.
440 years before the tower was built, in a medieval tower in its place, died Janos Hunyadi, to the people known as Janko Sibinjanin, Hungarian Knight and a great fighter against the Ottomans.
The tower was nicknamed by the Serbian people after this great man as Kula Janka Sibinjanina.
