Foundation of Nikola Spasic Attraction

Belgrade Attractions - Foundation of Nikola Spasic was founded posthumously by handwritten testament on 09 February 1912. 30 April 1920 has been officially launched.

Nikola Spasic, a Serbian wholesaler, and a great benefactor and donor was known as a diligent and hard-working man, he enjoyed the reputation of a honest and wise man. His great wealth was invested in stocks and real estate. At the beginning of the twentieth century in the yard of Paliluska primary school  he build a space for school children as a shelter and allocated a certain annual aid, which is paid regularly, as well as an award to the best student. This was one of the first of his charitable activities, under the auspices of the "Society of children's shelters."

During the First Balkan War he organized an auxiliary hospital for wounded Serbian soldiers in Belgrade in 1912, which he supported by his own means and equipped them with all necessary equipment and drugs, then brought a doctor from Germany. It was in this very hospital the first woman doctor started working, Draga Ljočić. The head nurse was Anastasija Neka Spasic, his wife, and the preparation of food for the wounded was being done at his home. All of the inventory of the Serbian hospital was donated to the Red Cross after the war.

During the First World War Nikola Spasic founded his first foundation, the Serbian National Disability fond of Sveti Djordje.

After the death of Nikola Spasic, almost a year and a half, all of his assets were left uncared for, because the work belonged to the occupation authorities, who used them for their own purposes.
The occupation Civil Court of the City of Belgrade only after engaging Dr. Mikhail Mike Popovic, decides on the guardians of the entire property of Nikola Spasic, Dobru S. Petkovic, a lawyer and Milorad Popovic, assistant professor at the University of Belgrade. Their duty to care for the property of Nikola Spasic lasted from 21 May. 1917 to 27 April. In 1920 the management of the endowment of Nikola Spasic finally put people Spasic named in the will as the guardians of the Foundation. After the election of the President of the Management Board on 30 April. 1920 the Foundation finally started its work.
